Today we had a tight schedule. In the morning at 10am, susan gave a production talk. It was quite interesting. There is a company that does nothing but previs, and usually they work directly with the director/art director to produce the previs.
After the talk, aliza brought us to Asylum studios. As they are more secretive and have done alot more films than method, they did not let us take photos inside the studio. They showed us the work they did in benjamin button and pirates of the carribean. They even showed a shot they did in the unreleased film, "unstoppable". We noticed they have a huge server room which is cooled and everything they have done, their dailies, their work are all stored in their servers.
After we got back from asylum, we went back to the office and had a lesson on basic particles by jonnathan. He covered a very long lesson about the different ways particles can be done and controlled. His lesson took 3-4 hours(1-4pm), which kinda left us with only 1 hours(we needed to leave early to get a bus pass. office closes at 6pm ) to really get work done. Which is quite impossible. As i have decided yesterday, i cleaned up my shots, fixed a couple of weird timing issues, and brought in the paper plane model. I scaled it down and placed it on a building. Then i realised there are some off timings, which i'll probably have to look at tommorow.
Tommorow there is a class in the morning, so probably, i'll grab my files and do work over the weekend. and since tomorrow we took off to go to the marina, i'm renting a jetski and a kayak, tommorow after the class at 2pm.

Day 31 - Meh.
Today, we finally went franklin. He voiced his displeasure at the rate we are working. I was still bogged down by camera. I guess it's cause i havn't shown him some of the work i did and also i didn't put all the work i have done into the shot. Oh well.
He mentions he doesn't like the speed we are working and that apparently he didn't see any progress from last week. Ms Eda now wants to have a review every tuesday evening before every wed to ensure we meet the deadline of the stuff requested by franklin. Apparently he is paid by houdini to review our work.
So yeah. I plan to ignore camera until i get the rest inside. But i guess i can't do that as blocking involves camera movement. So meh. I am going to just fix whatever angle i have done, and just use that as my current angles. I'm not going to bother to change it until i have the rest down.

Day 30 - More work!
Today was a normal work day. I continued working on my camera angles again. I dunno. Finding a good one is hard. On the side i worked on the texturing of the stack. I'm still thinking about what i should do about the sky. I'm thinking of using the magazine texture which i used the last time. Ziggy didn't like the stack i made prior because it doesn't look like a stack of paper. So i'm considering doing something about it. I played around different ways, and took new pictures to make textures out of for the stacks.
Should get round to doing it. Been putting it off for a couple of days already. I brought my mini laptop to work on it today. hopefully i can get it done.

Day 29 (Monday) - Office work... & Really bad animation festival
Today we went to office and we were told that we needed to finalized the camera shots by wednessday, so i'm still trying to get a good camera angle. Ziggy finally came back from germany and finally had a view of the work and was up to date with it.
I approached ziggy and asked his opinion on my shots, and he didn't like some of the view. he told me to go furthur inside the city and to have perspectives. "Don't be afraid to do cuts." I was originally afraid to do cuts as it's extra work. Now after the advice from ziggy, i started to experiment with cuts instead of using just one camera on a curve. Hopefully it will appease them on wed.
I played with the folding given to me by franklin, and solved certain problems that i encountered with it. I should tell him about it on wednessday.
I revisited the flight path and curves that i did. and tried to come up with something that works.
Also we went to a really bad animation festival with fairly disturbing/artistic work. At first i thought it was quite cool and could mean alot of things in abstract but i realise alot of the work is quite badly done. It's a good fieldtrip to say what not to do in an animation/shot piece. Alot of the animations were very long winded and could be cut down and share its message alot quicker. Aliza said she is going to try and get her money back. well yeah. that's all we did for today.

Day 28 - Rest & Abbot Killney Festival
Today was supposed to do my textures but i guess was still too tired from glow. Walking that distance is really tiring. Anyways, ng went to church in the morning. So we rested up. Finally, when he got back from church we set off to the festival. The festival is like a singapore styled pasar malam, except it's not really a pasar(market) and not really malam(night). lol. It's more like a fair, with lots of stores and clubs and all kinds of random things.
For example we found a tent selling Tesla sports cars and another promoting republican ideas. lol. It's as random as it gets. There were live concerts and clubbing along the street as well. Alot of it was quite interesting. but i didn't buy much, just got myself 2 souvenir t's from the main booth and left. We had dinner at the promenade boulevard and left back home by about 8pm. Yes that's 2 festivals we have been to in 2 days.
Anyways, so tired....and so hot.... it's about 27C outside at night and the apartment has no A/C so we have to rely on a small little fan. What can i do? sigh... oh well. I'm off i'll post tommorow.
