Day 11 - Ice Cream!

Today, we had ice cream. And it was hari raya. My first time celebrating it away from singapore. Oh well.

In other news, today i did more tests. I tested rendering the stacks of paper, by copy stamping the paper to create twists. This brought me a problem as the computer started to stutter even before i pressed the render when i tried to render above 20 plys. To get around this problem i'm going to test out bump mapping the paper onto rectangle blocks. Copy stamping and applying a function to add some random ness into the stacks, so it's not perfect.

I did tests also on the pathings. I set the camera to trail the object, but at a slower speed, by setting the follow in the camera SOP to the object. I then set the speed to be based off the frames which is sined to the view of the camera. This effect creates the feel as if the camera is free moving and not fixed. This also is all done percedurally. i did not specifically keyframe and set the camera to follow all the way.

I then discussed with ziggy and showed ben my storyboard, about camera angles. Ziggy recommended to take it slow. Like a feather, whereas franklin was thinking more of a jet fighter. I would probably do both those tests and see what feels and looks better. hopefully i would have a video to show by then.

Oh and had kebab today. Yesterday we found a thai restaurant that cooked real authentic thai food with real chilli and spice. none of that nonsense we get elsewhere where it was salty and made of tomatos. which was rubbish. The food here was the real deal. but yeah.
