Today we went to universal studios hollywood. yeah, the real universal studios, not the fake small one in singapore and not the tourist attractiony one in florida. This one is located within the area where real AAA movies are being shot. Thus that's why i say it's the real deal. Anyways, we bought the front of the line pass for universal. The front of the line pass is a singaporean's dream as it allows you to cut the queue legally and be treated as a VIP for just 50$ extra. It also allows us to see behind the scenes view of their shows, like waterworld and terminator.
we watched the visual effect stage, and within 15mins, it became MDA applicable :D. The visual effect stage show shows the audience how movies were made many years ago and are made now. From the early glass matt painting to the current gen CGI.
other than that the studio tours went around real sets and by passes real sets that are currently in the process of shooting. the tour guide didn't want to tell us what movie they were shooting now, but a huge blue screen was put up. Being universal studios, they have other characters walking around, and we did touristy things like take photos of them, with them and stuff.
There were several rides, the simpsons ride, which was a 3d simulator ride, the mummy ride was a inverse indoor rollercoaster, which is quite something, Jurassic park was an outdoor quasi rollercoaster with a back story. Almost every attraction has water used.
we watched the shows, waterworld, terminator 2(the good one) and shrek 4d. waterworld was a live show, with explosives, smoke and pyrotechnics. terminator 2 was a mixture of modern CG and pyro all done indoors, and shrek 4d is a indoor 4d show.
Most of the rides here can't be found in singapore, so yeah. It makes all the difference. Anyways, i'm tired, i'm going to sleep, i'll upload pictures tommorow.(we took over 3000 photos. 6gb worth of photos!)
